A finger-prick test to check for average blood glucose levels over the past 3 months, a recent meal won’t affect the test and no fasting is required. The test can be carried out at any time of day. This test is especially useful to provide screening for prediabetes/diabetes for patients with family history of diabetes, deemed higher risk for diabetes or to back up routine monitoring of diabetes controlled with diet or medication.

Diabetes is closely linked with gum disease and this test is highly recommended as part of periodontal maintenance.

This assessment is suitable for those patients who have not yet had testing with/written prescription from a sleep physician. Private home sleep studies can be arranged if criteria are met (at further cost). Private home sleep study testing can be used by the local NHS respiratory team for diagnosis of sleep apnoea to reduce wait times or if preferred a fully private assessment and sleep evaluation can be performed by a qualified sleep physician.
Mandibular advancement devices to open the airway may be prescribed dependent on risk scores and/or prescription from your sleep physician.
